Sweating under the arms
Sweating is also known as perspiration and is basically the discharge of sweat glands. This
function is necessary as it allows the body to maintain its body temperature. Usually, people sweat on the feet,
under the arms and also on the palms of their hands. Sweat basically consists of water.
The amount of sweat that is discharged from your sweat glands depends on the number of sweat glands that you
possess. The average number of sweat glands present is about 4 million. However, these glands kick into motion
around the age of 13, i.e., puberty. It is interesting to know that men have lesser sweat glands when compared to
women. However, men sweat more because their sweat glands work faster.
When the temperature is high, people tend to sweat more. This is because sweat glands help to maintain the body
temperature. Excess sweating may also be experienced during vigorous exercise. Others tend to sweat more when they
are experiencing extreme emotions such as anger, fear or embarrassment.
However, if one notices that excess sweating also leads to an increase in the body temperature or unexplained
weight loss as well as increased heart rate, one must immediately consult a doctor. This is because unexplained
sweating can be a sign of hyperthyroidism. However, among women between the ages of 50-60, it may also be a sign of
approaching menopause.
A large number of people complain about sweating more under their arms when compared to other body parts. A
considerable percentage of people tend to experience excess sweating around their armpits. This problem can lead to
a number of embarrassing situations and such people are always looking for ways to get rid of the same.
Using Aluminum zirconium deodorants is the most common solution to this problem. This deodorant can easily curb
the problem of excess sweating under the arms. These Aluminum zirconium deodorants can be bought at any drug store
and a prescription to purchase the same is not required. It is important to remember that they smell much stronger
than regular deodorants. However, if your problem is still not solved, it is recommended that you consult a doctor
as he will help you to procure a deodorant that is stronger.
A large number of people turn towards other treatments when the above mentioned simple
cures fail to work. One such cure is botox. The process that is carried out basically freezes the area around the
armpit. This helps to reduce the discharge of excess sweat. However, this process can prove to be quite
expensive.
Other treatments include oral medication which are known as anticholinergics. This medication must be prescribed
by a doctor and is known to be an excellent cure. Once an individual begins this medication, it is essential that
he/she records his/her condition on a regular basis. However, if one is into heavy exercises which requires this
discharge, such oral medication must not be used. This is because oral medicines may work to such an extent that
sweating is almost completely eliminated which can prove to be very dangerous.
If none of the above mentioned treatments work, one can always undergo surgery. However, this must be the last
choice and is not recommended. Even though this cure is extremely effective in the sense that it allows the
individual to get rid of the problem forever, it must only be considered after considering a number of factors.
Surgery involves the removal of sweat glands from the armpits. This method is expensive but very effective.
Sweating is a natural function and it should only be focused on when it is more than usual. It is unnecessary to
spend your time worrying about a bodily function that allows you to stay healthy.
